Luke 7:36-8:3

Jesus claims a “teachable moment” when he says to Simon, “…I have something to tell you.”

When a woman comes in to wipe Jesus’ feet, the reaction of those around him is shock; not so much at the woman’s act as at the fact she is a “sinner.”  But Jesus points out that she offered him the basics of hospitality, something his (male) host neglected to do.  The message seems clear – it is not who a person appears to be, but what they in fact do, that indicates the true nature of their character.
