Sunday School
Gordon Church offers Sunday School classes during the church service for children ages 3-17 years old. Nursery services are also provided for children under the age of 3.
The children are involved upstairs in the worship services up until the Minister tells the children’s story.
They then proceed downstairs and have an open session beginning with a welcome message, followed by a review of their mission project, the collection of offering, and finishing with singing songs. The children then split into separate classes, with 3-5 year olds forming the preschool class, children grades 1-7 forming the elementary school class, and grades 8+ forming the youth class. Presently they are using the David C. Cook curriculum.
There are a few Sundays strictly devoted to doing special crafts, such as the Sunday of Mothers Day. The children enjoy an open session where all ages get to interact as they prepare special presents for their mothers. The Sunday School also puts on a Christmas pageant every year. During the early weeks of December the children are given parts and they practice as a group. The pagaent is then performed during one of the Sunday services closer to Christmas.
During the summer months, there is no Sunday School, but children are provided with clipboards of fun activities and colouring pages to work on during service.
